The Kiraly Cases are a pair of legal actions that pit most members of a family named Kiraly — Father James, Mother Grace, Brother Kenneth, and Brother Thomas — against the oldest Brother, Robert.

I am Robert.

The cases have a number of unusual aspects. For example, James Kiraly is a former abuser who initiated these actions against his son to discourage the writing of a book. And who continues these actions in the hopes of shutting down the website that this page appears on.

Note to attorneys: I do not use the word “alleged” before “former abuser” here. Nor do I say I “feel” that James is a former abuser. Instead, I assert publicly that James is a former abuser.

I trust the point is clear. I feel free to speak bluntly because I speak the simple truth.

Regarding James's motives, there is not much doubt. People are invited to read the actual case materials as they move online over time. After review they may draw their own conclusions.

OldCoder's attorney said that he could do a Motion to Limit Scope for about a hundred dollars. In the end, he charged OldCoder about $5,000 to write an unusual document. The Infamous Document Set is a 69-page collection of documents that the Kiralys view as controversial. The documents are disorganized, they contain overlapping material, and they need a lot of work. But they're not bad under the circumstances. I ended up in the Emergency Room while writing the first draft.

This is a document sent by Opposing Counsel Michael Bonetto of Hoge Fenton. It makes unusual demands which tend to confirm the assertion that James Kiraly and Michael Bonetto are focused on stopping books, websites, and interactions with third parties related to the writings in question.

Read the document closely and note the parts related to “indirect” harassment and $5,000 per violation. If I am not mistaken, these parts could have been used to put a stop to consensual interactions with those who wished to speak about the Kiralys.

Michael was displeased that this document was posted. In an attempt to get it taken down, he cited the law incorrectly. He also suggested that his firm could use intellectual property rights to prevent this odd attempt to stop my writing from being made public.

This is a proposal that my attorney sent to Michael Bonetto. It is related to Michael's attempt to stop my writing. Michael either rejected this attempt to settle things or ignored the letter entirely. The document is in Web format.

These are two PDF files related to a Stipulation that my attorney had me sign circa 130114. It surrendered on most significant points other than CLETS. The other side turned it down so that they could press for CLETS. The ultimate goal is to declare my book and this website to be “indirect harassment” or the like and therefore prevent me from writing.
